Hello everyone,
I would first of all thank Mr.Salim for motivating amateur and pros in the field of photography.

Shutter – 1/125

Dear Mr. Salim Al Harthy,
Many thanks for selecting my picture for the Monthly Competition. Have been following you lately via your Facebook posts & your blogs, very interesting stories.
This image was captured during the last week horse race event at Barka race track. This event was attended along with my photography group, known as ‘Friday Shoot Out – Muscat’ (FSO). I was very fortunate to have captured this image from a good vantage point, which was from the starting blocks of the race.
Ironically, after taking this shot from a close angle, i was told by the organisers to stay far away from the racing track, as i could distract the horses.
Love the calm composure of the rider in this image, and luckily I got it right.
Exif Details are as follows:
Camera ; Canon EOS 6D
ISO – 100
Shutter 1/500 @ F/8
Dear Mr. Salim,
Thanks for selecting my photo. Of course, I have benefited a lot from your photography class, which has helped me to have much better confidence in taking photos.
This photo was clicked while visiting Wadi Dayqah Dam, Quriyat. It was around 12.00 Noon and the sky was little cloudy. I couldn’t capture a better reflection as the sun was a bit right side of the hills.

I took this photo when I own a prize as an active member in Salim’s blog; a prize was a one day stay at Salim’s farm with my family. The farm was well care with nice plants, trees and good facilities to spend time with family and friends in privacy away from street, noise and pollution and it was my first chance to experience Animals & Wild Life Photography, while walking around the farm I have observed that there was white ducks and black duck, but the black ducks were always separate from the white ducks. After that I have noticed that they are always separate when the farmer came with the tray of ducks food, the black ducks knew automatically that it’s their feeding time, while the white ducks stayed away, also I have noticed during the day the black ducks are roaming all together in the same line in same direction, so I had to be patient to see what is going around and then wait for the right moment to take photograph. However I thought that will be the right moment to have great depth of field, when one of the black duck stayed behind while other four ducks were moving; I had to focus in one duck, so here a larger aperture (smaller f-number f/2) has a shallow depth of field. Anything behind or in front of the main focus point will appear blurred.

Asma Al Harthy
Dear Mr. Salim,
Many thanks for selecting my photograph. I clicked this picture during my visit to India recently, the place was near Chennai,Muttukadu backwater. I found a bird flying on low height, moment was tempted me to freeze the picture.

Bird in Flight : Animal and wild life photography.
Thanks for selecting the photo.
This Photo was taken from Buhairah Corniche in Sharjah. It was evening time and the seagulls were attempting to catch fish or some food. A narrow stretch of water was illuminated by the setting sun between the tall buildings. It was a chance to get the bird under the sunlight portion of the water.

Thank you for qualifying my photo for this month’s contest 🙂
The camera used for this shot: Canon S5iS (which I no longer have now. My current Canon is 600 D)
Story: Well, this click was shot on a Sunday morning 5 years back in India in my garden.
I was having a look at the flowers that had bloomed in my garden that morning and came across this beautiful bright sunflower 🙂 I quickly went and grabbed my camera and set it to ‘macro’ mode and tried capturing the beauty of this creation ♥
Later that morning I clicked the other pretty flowers too but this one remains my favorite till date because of its colors, the beauty and also for the little honeybee hovering over the flower to get some nectar 🙂
Thank you,
Ronak Bhatt
Thanks for qualifying my photo for this month! My photo was shot at sunset in Sharqiyyah using my trusty Nikon D90 (although I am being persuaded over to the dark side – Canon by my photography mentor Hamed!). This photo makes me smile as it was a fabulous trip with friends and family – even if i don’t win it’s a lovely warm memory for when we return to the colder climes of Britain later this year 🙂
Sukhran. The picture was taken during recently held “Tour of Oman” on final day on Muttrah corniche near the finishing line. This was shot with a nikon D7000 and setting is f13 @24mm, 1/60s, ISO100, tried for the motion blur with rear cyclist on focus.
Thanks Mr Salim! Am happy to be in the company of some really good snaps!
Deer, Habitat Shot:
Pre-visualizing a scene prior to actually shooting it is a cliché in wildlife photography.
I was on a tiger safari in Ranthambhore National Park, India. Having seen the dim evening light and the natural shades, my friends and me were waiting impatiently for a tiger to appear in the tall grass and give us an amazing shot. I was not really interested in the spotted deer that was grazing lazily; but, it looked in our direction for a few seconds and gave me this shot……the magical effect compensated for the disappointment of the tiger not appearing!
Shot with NIKON D90. NIKKOR 70-200MM
F/2.8 1/320s ISO 200
People, Silhoutte Shot:
This was my first outing with my new 70-200mm lens. While clicking the sunset, I noticed that the presence of people against the twilight sun gave a beautiful silhouette effect. This particular frame captured people enjoying a classic beachside sunset- kids playing in the water, families watching the sun set, friends chatting to each other, and some others checking out their mobile phones.
NIKON D90 NIKKOR 70-200MM
F/8 1/125s ISO 320
Window, Dim light Shot:
This is a dimly lit window shot in the natural evening light coming through it. I particularly liked the subtle effect of the light reflecting on the peeling walls. Shot during a recent visit to Amber Fort in Jaipur, India.
NIKKON D90. 10-24MM NIKKOR
F/7 1/10s ISO 200
